Face enthusiast and lipstick lover. Constantly hunting for new holy grail makeup that works for me, a tanned skin with combination and acne proned skin, living in a hot and humid city. My foundation shades are: M.A.C NC40, Make Up For Ever 153 Golden Honey, KVD Medium 57 and Bobbi Brown's Foundation no. 5.0

I am conflicted about most Jeffree Star lipsticks in general, some of the pinkish-nudes like Gemini and this one, Celebrity Skin smells Root Beer-ish yummy and the texture glides upon application with the camel-foot applicator, which I like too. First swipe...so comfortable and you can even layer it more than once without feeling the dry cling (you can't do this with Lime Crime, not on 3rd layer). Celebrity is a tad light on medium skin like mine, its great with full-coverage makeup, I won't recommend for everyday especially for my skin tone, however would make an OK transition color.. To make this shade work on my pigmented lips, I have to add a layer of nude base. There are times when this dries out nicely and times when it just clings on the lines of your lips. What I'm not a fan of is how this always transfers on my teeth like Gerard matte lipsticks...I don't know how many times I have to look in the mirror or have my friend reminded me that there's lipstick stains on my front teeth!
If you have tried Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip and not a fan of its tackiness, then you should definitely give Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip a go! This particular shade, Point Zero matches my pigmented lip, and i LOVE how this goes on smoothly, without much effort and covers all parts of my dry lips. Best to layer with lipbalm before wearing this and IMO, this is the kind of nude that looks good with med-full coverage makeup otherwise your face look a bit...off.
This Beauty Powder is like a hybrid of illuminator, sheer, buildable blusher, silky powder all in one! If you like the Japanese-style Gari flushed look, THIS is the powder to go for. You can also achieve this look using cream or BB type of blusher but a powder form would do less 'damage' on your foundation especially your conceal area, IMO! Normal matte blusher will somehow flatten the cheeks, but this powder has a fine illuminating finish that will bring out the depth of the cheek without accentuating the imperfections like tiny pimples. This is the perfect everyday blusher, if you want a camera-ready look, just apply a hint darker pink/coral blusher for contrast.
A lot of ppl often ask me for CoverFX Custom Drop Cover review, so here goes. I LOVE this, I'd give it a 4.5 star but didn't want to send out a wrong signal about having this as a "must-buy" product cos its not something that you can't live without. This retails for RM209 at Sephora physical stores and priced a bit more at RM220 at Sephora.MY. So if you have 10% discount, this will go down to RM181. For me, I like to experiment all sorts of types of foundation or in this case, a so-called "foundation pigment" and this works beautifully with 'luminous', dewy or medium type of foundation like Make Up For Ever Ultra HD to give more coverage without caking up the face. Bought G50 (a shade lighter than my actual skin) and mix it with a darker foundation to adjust to my volatile skin shade. I have tried mixing this with full coverage foundation like KVD Lock-it, not a good combination, unless you balance it up with hydrating primer and beauty blender to tone down the cakeyness. IMO, makeup artists would find a good use to this to cater to various skin shade. Most of the shade that starts with G would suit those with yellow undertones. Also, this makes a very good under-eye concealer cos its super airy lightweight + pigmented texture. Try it!
The primer that speaks "just nice" for everyday and camera-ready special occasion. This primer gives a cooling hydration on application just like a moisturizer without the ickly feeling. It suits when pairing with any foundation from low to full coverage foundation like Estee Lauder and Kat Von D. Like everything else, make sure to use it on clean face to get the best out of your makeup so the foundation will last longer, appear even and smoother without caked up feeling. If you're ever doubtful about this, good news, it also comes with a smaller travel size. Wee!!!
When I tested RCMA No-Color Powder side by side with Ben Nye Banana Powder using RT Face Expert brush, you can probably see the difference in terms of the finish - RCMA blends in the skin well and Ben Nye just clings on top of my pores. I haven't yet tried Laura Mercier Loose Powder (which everyone raves about) for comparison, but I can however put RCMA on top of my list compared to others I've tried like Tarte Smooth Operator, MUFE HD Microfinish powder and Innisfree No Sebum powder. It feels lightweight on skin, the white powder color dissapear after blending and does a good job in blotting away the oiliness of my skin.
Love the small, plastic bristle which makes it easy to maneuver when combing, especially on lower lashes. Does a good job in lengthening and volumising but my only complaint that it smudges on me after 3-4 hours, which also happens to another friend of mine. So I wouldn't recommend this to those who are planning to wear this all day (psst...Estee Lauder Double Wear mascaras are my absolute all-day mascara but comes with a price tag). Having said that, removing this non-smudging mascara is a breeze since its not waterproof.
When I'm at my oiliest, which is always, this is my go-to blusher from In theBalm of Your Hands palette. This blusher brightens up my dull face and gives a soft-flush of health when applied. I used to wear NYX Stick Blush for the natural effect, but if you want less 'interruption' on your foundation and concealer, then powder blusher is perfect in this situation. This is a matte-finish blusher with no sparkles, so it won't accentuate your face bumps or acne.
For natural-looking undereye waterline, this shade is in medium may suit those with medium tan skin like me. Like what beauty youtuber Aqilah has mentioned, tips to make this liner long-lasting and smudge less (or any liner) is to dry up the eyelid surface with cotton bud before applying it, though I would say this liner still won't remain intact after 2-3 hours on my waterline. I like to use this to accentuate and brighten the eye - also not to forget to add some hints of dark shadow on lower lids to frame and finish off the look.
Finally get to write a proper review on this now that I owned a couple shades of this lipstick (Pinch and Brink). Love the pigmented, matte and smooth coverage - this nude shade covers my dark lip pigmentaton beautifully. The almost-vanila scent can be a bit confusing but tolerable to me. There is one slack trait that I observe from two of my Lippiestix - after a couple of hours especially after eating, I notice that there will always be an obvious white-ish patch at the corner of my lips particularly on my chapped lips. Not sure if this only occur to lighter nude shades, but this is the only dislike I have with this lipstick.
Updated review: This mascara lives up to 'Zero Smudge' name for sure, I wore this for good 12 hours or more and it STAYS on my oily lids, which is a revelation! I may be over-excited on this product 2 months ago, but looking at most selfies I took with it, it doesn't curl, volumize and lengthen my lash that much hence the 'lost star'. Perhaps this mascara would work with eyelash primer, maybe. Although I do recommend this for those who regularly wear mascara, work long hours and still need to look fabulous and panda-free eyes at the end of the day.
I wish they sell this in small pot cos this "foundation" makes a really good concealer. The shade Rattan is a little bit lighter on my skin, so I mixed it with a darker but lighter foundation like MUFE Ultra HD and dabbed it on my acne blemishes. Blends in like magic! Most Estee Lauder Double Wear foundations (Stay in Place or Max Cover) gets a bit uneven after 4 hours - I'd recommend wearing them for night function instead of daytime wear.
It mattifies my T-zone, makes my under eye so even smooth and excellent for baking! Its a yellow powder but blends perfectly and almost invisible to my skin. Best used with damp beauty blender or even fluffly brush. I've used a few different colored loose powder from pink powdered Bourjois Java Rice Powder, Tarte Smooth Operator, MUFE HD Microfinish powder and this Banana powder is the only one that suits my Asian yellow skin. If you've a compact powder container with brush, this makes a great on-the-go-powder.
My makeup just glides and glow with this in a good way. For RM22.90 in a full 100ml glass bottle, this could last for a long time. I use this as makeup primer before applying foundation, just a pea-size amount and glide it all over the face. It smells like men's perfume but the scent will lessen over time. But once you realize this makes your foundation even, smooth and last LONG (5 hours or more), you'll forget that you smell like a man. Haha!
I have three shades of this concealer which intended to be highlighter (two of them are in Beige range), but I always end up using the Yellow Corrector for under eye brightener, top of cheeks, forehead and chin. It suits my yellow toned skin. Unlike cream based concealer which is not so good with oily skin, this one has matte-finish and works well for Malaysia's humid weather. For smooth and natural finish, best to use this with beauty blender, otherwise brushes or even fingers work as well.
I was using UD Primer Potion repeatedly for about 3 yrs and love its long-lasting power, BUT too bad they didn't have a yellow based matte concealer. The UD original has a pinkish tone which looks chalky on my yellow Asian skin. Then Air Patrol comes along, and its everything I'm looking for. Its yellow, matte and the formula is just right to brightens my lids. The soft, gel-like plastic applicator is fun to use, except that you need to clean it often otherwise the next time you use it, it will goo up your eyes. This is a worth buy if you're an eyeliner junkie, have oily lids like me this will last you the WHOLE year. Though price tag is a bit steep around RM135 (hence the 4 star), but if you have sensitive lids and wants the best for it, this is your baby.
After wearing it for months, Shrooms is officially my favourite shade of the year. For some reason, the formula for Shrooms is quite different from Salem - it's thinner, almost watery-like which makes it quite comfortable and not drying on the lips, on top of conditioned (lip-balmed) lips of course. First coat will give an orangey brown look and two coats will make it to dark brown. To make the lip appear more 3D, I usually lined the lips with a dark burgundy lipliner. I don't mind eating oily food using this lipstick shade since the shade is nude-like and not obvious on the inner lip area when it budges out. Will restock again, provided there's a sale :D
NEWSFLASH from a self-proclaimed oily lash girl! I don't know what magical ingredients they used, but this is the one mascara that lives up to the 'ZERO-SMUDGE' trait and its NOT A WATERPROOF mascara, which means it is so easy to remove at the end of the day unlike waterproof mascara that needs extra lash-pulling. You need two coats or more to volumes your lashes. This mascara stays on for HOURS and I often used this everyday for work (more than 10 hours, no joke) and it STAYS on my oily lashes and no trace of the smudge on my pudgy hooded eyes, nor my under eye. No wonder this is the most-beloved mascaras to those who have used this for years and years! I owned about 8-9 different mascaras from drugstore to premium brands and there are only 2 that have successfully clings on my lashes for hours, this one and Etude House Curl Fix (waterproof, which is like a hairspray of mascara). I totally recommend this to everyone. Though the price may be a bit steep (RM106), this is a worth buy if you wear mascaras daily and really don't want to be caught with smudges on the eyes.
As for now, I have about 6 different mascaras in my makeup bag and THIS is the mascara that will not leave smudges (especially under eye areas) compared to other waterproof mascaras I have owned, for at least a good 4-6 hours, which I consider a miracle. I have OILY lids, which I think somewhat makes my lashes oily as well. This mascara has seriously strong lasting power. I opted for this mascara if I ever go out on dates and events where you don't want to leave 'smudgey' impression.
As much as this volumizes and thickens my lashes nicely even without curler, there are bit of cons. The comb and spooly bristles are kinda tricky to manoeuvre which always leave some tiny clumps and spidery lashes if I'm not careful. And removing this mascara requires extra work than other waterproof mascaras. Using coconut oil/baby oil + lash massage will make the removal easier.
But hey, for some reason, I keep going back to this mascara for my outing use since I know it will be in tact on my lashes throughout my wear. And as hooded eyes girl, lashes need to always stand out next to groomed eyebrows right?
I've to give this a 5, for the fact I've been using this everyday! I LOVE to use this with sharp angled brush (not the small one that comes with the set). The powder is pigmented and buildable. When it comes to even-ness, I'd prefer this compared to my ABH Dipbrow pomade since its hard to control the gel consistency compared to powder. I will use the darker brown to outline and darken my brow from bottom part of my brows, tail, to 2/3 of my top brows. Then I will use the lighter brown for the remaining inner part of the brows. And lastly, using flat brush, apply cream concealer to clean and sharpen the brow. EASY PEASY!
Pros: - Shameless (purple shade) is the best shade if you love a bold, purple lip. At least 1-2 people will ask what lipstick I'm wearing every time I put this on.
- Minty scent and taste
- Somewhat pigmented
- Pen-like form, easy to bring and apply
Cons:- Minty scent and taste (not everyone will like this)
- The color doesn't look good chapped lips and not even
- Easily smeared upon eating or drinking
Bought this translucent powder on travel size and really love how this mattify my oily skin, though it won't last that long. Works great on top of foundation especially on T-zone area. I wouldn't recommend using this for baking technique (especially if you will be photographing on flash camera) otherwise you'll get the white flashback, yikes! Otherwise, I'd say its a good product that does not clog pores.
My current fav mascara! Best to use this after curling your lashes with curler, and this mascara will just give your lashes an instant lift. The mascara dries out fast on first coat, so if you like more than 1, you need to do it more quickly and quite useful to have spooly to separate the lashes out to avoid spidery clumps! Probably one of the many mascara that actually doesn't smudge on my lower lash for hours!
Bit downside, its quite tough to remove the mascara but baby oil or any oil will make the removal job easier compared to normal makeup remover like Biorderma or facial makeup tissue.
UPDATED: Not all foundations would suit everyone - even a good foundation requires a bit of trial and error to get it right. If you love the old HD Foundation, there is no surprise that you should be getting your hands on this upgrade since this foundation works beautifully on camera and in person....but it comes with a catch if you have oily skin!
If you like NARS All Day Luminous Sheer foundation, you may like this as well. Stippling foundation on top of concealed area (pigmentation or scars) would instantly even out the imperfection. Cos its lightweight, your face won't feel that usual foundation thickness. I've used M.A.C Studio Correct and Conceal palette with this foundation and it works great together.
If there's one word to describe this foundation, it's DEWY. But dewy may not be for everyone, especially with oily skin and with facial bumps. For normal and dry skin, you will LOVE this. For my oily and combo skin, I've tweak it with matt primer on the t-zone area. I like the dewiness especially on my cheekbones, but again, the foundation may transfer after 4 hours of wear especially if you are oily.
Beauty blender sponge will give a more natural finish and brush will give better coverage. My fav tool for this is Real Techniques Face Expert brush. Awesome!
Bought two browns from Velvetines line, in Shrooms (light brown) and Salem (dark brown).
Pros: The browns are like no colors I've seen, especially Shrooms. Shrooms is wearable for daily use but definitely not Salem, unless you want to rock goth daily or for dressy occasions. Read reviews that Velvetines has a better formula compared to ABH, in terms of longevity and the even-ness of the color once it dries up. It has a watery like formula, but SO pigmented. Best to line the lips with lip liner since it can be tough to control the color.
The cons: The color darkens within the first few minutes and like many liquid matte formula, its drying. Have tried to use lip balm as a base, but it did not budge that much. Also, do carry the product with you if you go out and eat...as long-lasting it is, the color will not stay when in contact with any oily food. Ate Sushi with this and there was a hole on my inner lip, LOL!
All in all, love the boldness and unique shades from Lime Crime. Glad to have purchased this for $20 with free shipping during their promo. It comes with a beautiful flowery box if you buy straight from Lime Crime site.
Been using this as my eye primer for many years and never switched to others! One travel size potion lasted me throughout the year. This potion makes my eyeliner and eyeshadow stay put on my oily lids for at least a good 5-6 hours. Have used Original and Anti-Aging (current fav). Original has a bit of neutral color and anti-aging has a translucent finish. Wish the primer would apply smoothly on application - my hack: I tend to warm the product on the back of my hand instead of applying straight to the eyes to make the potion more even on my lids.
Updated review: I previously raved about this foundation, but after more than 6 months using this, found some disadvantages. It still an OK of a foundation, but..the most apparent cons are depending on the weather or your body temp, this foundation oxidise and gives an orangey appearance, which after comparing it to my newer foundation purchase, its kinda obvious. Though it dries out matte, those who dislike a thick, full coverage foundation consistency may not want to use this on daily basis.
5 star lipstick (my fav is Sandra shade)! With just one stroke, you'll get an even textured, satin and almost matte finish. And like many NARS lip product, the color is quite long-lasting and no chemical scent what sort ever. The magnet packaging is so cool (literally and figuratively!) and quite sturdy. Though price is a bit steep at RM101, this is by far the most satisfying lipstick splurge I've ever made :D
Owned Morocco (red orange) and London (nude light brown) shades! Love all color options and of course the cheap price tag! BUT the downside of it, it has tendency to bleed and the key to overcome this is to pair it with a LIP LINER (think youtuber Ellarie), and automatically amplify the lips. I like to pair London with darker lip liner for 3D effect. Great product to use as transition shade and ombre lips.
Total HG and almost a hit pan product for me! I'm using Medium Deep for my NC40 skin, and have used this cream-based product for color correction, contouring, highlighting, concealing acne, under eye, neating up eyebrows...and LOVING IT! For oily skin, best to prime, mattify or powder before or after application, otherwise it will slide off. Other than that, really recommend this versatile palette for to makeup lovers!
If you love a natural blush look like what most Japanese and Korean like to pull, then you'll love this Stick Blush. Unlike cheek tint (which has a very sheer watercolor finish), this blush is quite pigmented and has an illuminating effect. I've repurchased this one twice on same shade - Pink Poppy, which gives me a brightening flush of color on my dull skin. Major love.
This is my 4th purchase of Hypersharp Liner since its first release. I would use this liner for my cat-eye daily use, with the support of eye primer for my oily lids and this basically stay put all day! The only disadvantage of this product is that it is not a matte-finish like gel liner, but still a must-have in my makeup bag.
This is probably the best foundation that works for my oily skin so far!!! My face usually shines just after 5 mins of foundation application (even with loose powder on top). I've coupled this with NYX Shine Killer mattifier and these two works wonders together! I do realize this oxidize a tad bit when I'm in a humid and hot areas, perhaps get some samples of this to make sure it works for you. Best hack to overcome this is to set the makeup with a loose powder. Holy grail for me!
I've an oily skin and living in a hot humid weather tend to make my 'eyebrow-game' weaker and fade within 3-4 hours. When I started using this, this seems to hold on my brows a bit longer, thanks to the waterproof ingredients. I've this on Medium Brown shade, which is a bit ashy and natural looking. To achieve a smooth and detailed brows, I would advise using a synthetic and thin angled/flat brush to apply this.
I bought this on Satin Beige since Pale Beige much suited a person with lighter skin. It's not super pigmented, so I'd advise those with darker lip to use a nude lip pencil for base (works perfectly with Too Faced Perfect Lips in Perfect Spice) before wearing this.
I've dark pigmented lips, and I bought so MANY nude lipstick only to know that it doesn't seem to stick on my lips..not till I discovered this on Perfect Spice shade. Omg! If you're looking for a lip base to coat nude or any bold colored lipstick or just would like to wear this on its own..for RM62, its really a great investment. It's a bit drying, so best to moisturise the lips before applying this.
